Dr. Ashok K. Shetty

Ashok K. Shetty received a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from AIIMS, New Delhi, India, and performed postdoctoral research at Duke University. Dr. Shetty joined Texas A&M in 2011 and is a professor in the Department of Cell Biology and Genetics and associate director of the Institute for Regenerative Medicine. For over 26 years he has received continuous extramural funding as a principal investigator from various agencies including the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans Affairs. He has authored 196 peer-reviewed publications and has received more than 21,200 citations for his published articles. He is co-editor-in-chief of the journal Aging & Disease, an associate editor of seven neuroscience journals, and an editorial board member of several prestigious journals in his field, including the Journal of Extracellular Vesicles, Stem Cells, and Aging Cell. He is a Fellow of the American Society for Neural Transplantation and Repair and a recipient of the Senior Research Excellence Award from Texas A&M’s School of Medicine. Dr. Shetty is rated among the "World's Top 2% of Scientists" across all scientific fields.
