Happening in Faculty Affairs
Based on faculty feedback, we have proposed simplifying some promotion and tenure processes for faculty in the 2023-2024 cycle. This includes a change to the CV formats and eliminating some forms previously required. All faculty are encouraged to attend workshops to learn more about these changes:
- The Tenure Process and Strategies for Preparation of Effective Materials – March 21
- Understanding the Promotion Process as an Academic Professional Track (APT) Faculty Member – March 22
- Is It the Right Time to Pursue Promotion to Full Professor? – March 23
REMINDER: Faculty members may take time off during scheduled university holidays or on days when no classes are in session at the university (including reading days, spring break and inter-semester days when the university is open, but classes do not meet), without an obligation to request or report the leave. See System Regulation 31.03.01
Senior Faculty Advisory Committee
The Senior Faculty Advisory Committee has begun discussions in preparation for their initial meeting with President Banks. The faculty-nominated group was selected to represent the interests and concerns of APT faculty, Distinguished Professors, the Texas A&M University Faculty Senate and the Council of Principal Investigators, and will provide feedback on university functions.
Documents Under Review
A number of university documents open for review are regularly posted on the Faculty Affairs Intranet, and all faculty are encouraged to contribute feedback.
FAQs, Help Sessions for Interfolio F180 -
Q: What are the benefits of using Interfolio F180 for faculty evaluation processes?
A: After this first year, F180 minimizes the amount of time faculty spend on the evaluation process. This first year, faculty have more information to input and errors in other systems – like Compass – are being corrected as faculty see missing or incorrect information. Going forward, the annual update process will be minimized, and faculty can use their F180 vitas in evaluations, funding applications to NIH and NSF and during the promotion and tenure process.
Q: What other universities use F180?
A: Many, including Brown University, University of Pennsylvania, Vanderbilt University and Yale University. View All Interfolio Clients
Q: Why doesn’t F180 customize for every academic unit?
A: The activity report is the same across campus and was developed with input from a faculty-led committee several years ago. The vita that is generated can be customized, and that process will be implemented in Interfolio next year.
Additional FAQs are posted online to help you navigate and fully utilize Interfolio F180.
Note: Virtual sessions are hosted each Wednesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. and are slated to continue through May 31, 2023 with the option of extending these sessions as needed.
