The final open forum for the candidate, Dr. Andreas Polycarpou, will be Monday, April 24 from 9:15 - 10:30 a.m. at the Texas A&M Hotel & Convention Center - Corps Room (Join via Zoom). After this interview session, your feedback will be requested via an anonymous survey.

2023 Transformational Teaching & Learning Conference


Texas A&M faculty are encouraged to attend the 2023 Transformational Teaching & Learning Conference (TTLC) hosted on the College Station campus May 3 & 4. The faculty-led, faculty-focused event features plenary presentations, an awards showcase and sessions that speak to the relevance, opportunity and influence our faculty have in the classroom and beyond. Katz a Finalist for Prestigious National Teaching Award

Dr. Claire Katz (Department of Teaching, Learning & Culture, School of Education & Human Development) was named a finalist for Baylor University’s 2024 Robert Foster Cherry Award for Great Teaching – one of the few national teaching awards presented by a college or university to an individual for exceptional teaching.

Darensbourg Receives SEC Faculty Achievement Award

Dr. Donald Darensbourg (Department of Chemistry, College of Arts & Sciences) has won the 2023 Southeastern Conference (SEC) Faculty Achievement Award for his outstanding record of academic research and scholarship. One faculty member is selected per SEC campus and is advanced for consideration as SEC Professor of the Year.

Salazar Earns 2023 Postdoctoral Fellowship Competition Award

Dr. Cinthya Salazar (Department of Educational Administration & Human Resource Development, School of Education & Human Development) has been selected a 2023 Postdoctoral Fellowship Competition Award winner by the Ford Foundation. In order to maximize the educational benefits of diversity, the Ford Foundation works to increase the ethnic and racial diversity of college and university faculties. Dr. Salazar was honored for her a career-long focus on diversity as a resource for enriching the education of all students.

Weston to be a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practicioners

Dr. Cynthia “Cindy” Weston (Associate Dean for Clinical and Outreach Affairs, School of Nursing) will be inducted into the 2023 Fellows of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners program for her outstanding achievements, exemplary service and profound impact on national and global health.

Three Elected Fellows of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering

Drs. Guillermo Aguilar (J. Mike Walker ’66 Department of Mechanical Engineering, College of Engineering), Feng Zhao (Department of Biomedical Engineering, College of Engineering) and Yubin Zhou (Institute of Biosciences and Technology, Texas A&M Health) have been elected 2023 Fellows by the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering in recognition of their distinguished and continuing achievements in medical and biological engineering.

Faculty-Led Programming Opportunities at Texas A&M Qatar's Campus


If you are interested in traveling to Doha (Qatar) for a field trip, faculty-led trip or Capstone experience, the Qatar Student Experience Office (QSEO) on main campus is a great place to start the planning process. After expressing interest in traveling to Qatar and initiating the Faculty Education Abroad program process with your academic unit, Assistant Director Megan Higginbotham will help identify travel dates, outline a program schedule, suggest academic and cultural outings, assist with travelers’ visa and provide a pre-departure orientation. The QSEO covers housing at a hotel located close to campus, and Qatar staff helps the group navigate Doha.

Advancing Discovery to Market Proposals Due May 1


The deadline for submitting full proposals for the Advancing Discovery to Market (ADM) program is May 1. The $5 million ADM program is open to researchers, faculty, staff and students of Texas A&M University and its partners among The Texas A&M University System’s state agencies: the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station, the Texas A&M Transportation Institute and Texas A&M AgriLife Research.

Faculty Feedback Requested - Open Educational Resources


Texas A&M is working to increase classroom affordability for our students, in part through the use of open educational resources (OER). Faculty are encouraged to review a report in support of these efforts, Improving Texas A&M University Course Affordability and provide feedback on the recommendations contained in the document. Please review and provide your feedback by 5 pm on April 24.

A Request for Proposals (RFP) for Texas A&M faculty to develop OER materials for select classes will be posted by May 1 and will be due by 5 p.m. on May 22.

University Awards Ceremony


The inaugural University Awards Ceremony will be held at 11 am on April 24. With almost 100 university-level honorees being recognized in one ceremony, the event is invitation-only but can be viewed on livestream. The full listing of 2023 award honorees is online.

Summer and Fall 2023 Course Shell Release


The Office for Academic Innovation has made unpublished course shells available in Canvas for the upcoming summer and fall semesters. Once your courses are published, students will be able to view them in a read only state until the first day of their respective terms:

  • Summer Session I and 10-Week 2023 - 11:59 p.m. on May 26
  • Summer Session II - 11:59 p.m. on July 1
  • Fall 2023 - 11:59 p.m. on August 16

The Online Request Course Administration course management portal allows you to combine course sections, request duplicate Canvas shells for course sections, add course associate role designations and set course training requirements for associates.
