Executive Search Update


Dr. Alan Sams has been named provost and vice president for academic affairs, effective June 1. He has served as interim provost for the university since August 2022, and will continue to lead Texas A&M's academic enterprise.

Dr. Leann Horsley has been named dean of the School of Nursing, effective July 1. Currently serving as dean and professor at the College of Nursing at East Tennessee State University, Dr. Horsley’s background will contribute to our mission to educate highly skilled nurses to provide patient-centered care while conducting innovative research and serving our communities.

Hasan Appointed to Civil Nuclear Trade Advisory Committee

Dr. Yassin Hassan (Department of Nuclear Engineering, College of Engineering) was appointed to the Civil Nuclear Trade Advisory Committee to provide advice on the development and administration of programs and policies to expand U.S. nuclear exports.

Shetty Earns Innovation Award

Dr. Bala Shetty (Department of Information and Operations Management, Mays Business School) was awarded the Production and Operations Management (POM) Society’s 2023 Wickham Skinner Teaching Innovation Award for innovative teaching of POM courses. The award was presented at the POMS-Conference.

Erdemir Recognized by American Society of Mechanical Engineers

Dr. Ali Erdemir (J. Mike Walker ’66 Department of Mechanical Engineering, College of Engineering) was awarded honorary membership by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers in recognition of his lifetime of significant contributions and distinguished service to engineering.

Prairie View A&M University and Texas A&M Announce Research Grant Winners


Prairie View A&M University and Texas A&M have announced the research funding awards for the 2023 Panther Research and Innovation for Scholarly Excellence (PRISE) grant program.

The cohort consists of 15 pairings of faculty investigators from each institution.

Health Benefits Open Enrollment


The open enrollment period for FY24 begins July 10 and ends July 31. This three-week window is the only time individuals can make changes to their coverage, enroll in new benefit options or renew their flexible spending accounts without having to demonstrate a qualifying life event. Log in to Workday during this period to review your benefits and update as appropriate.

Free Financial Consultations


Making financial decisions for retirement planning can be difficult. The Division of Human Resources and Organizational Effectiveness is hosting Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America (TIAA), one of the approved Texas A&M University System financial and retirement vendors, to provide individual in-person employee financial consultations on-campus in College Station this May and June. Registration is now open online.

Summer and Fall 2023 Course Shell Release


The Office for Academic Innovation has made unpublished course shells available in Canvas for the upcoming summer and fall semesters. Once your courses are published, students will be able to view them in a read-only state until the first day of their respective terms:

  • Summer Session I and 10-Week 2023 - 11:59 p.m. on May 25
  • Summer Session II - 11:59 p.m. on July 1
  • Fall 2023 - 11:59 p.m. on August 16

The Online Request Course Administration course management portal allows you to combine course sections, request duplicate Canvas shells for course sections, add course associate role designations and set course training requirements for associates.

Texas A&M CHIPS Virtual Workshop (June 20)


The Texas A&M CHIPS Task Force is hosting a virtual workshop featuring leading semiconductor-related research experts within Texas A&M on June 20.

The workshop provides researchers from various fields an opportunity to share knowledge, discuss current trends and explore new technologies in all aspects of semiconductor research and workforce development.
